Venus Leaps Again

Venus, continued:

Venus will make her last leap across the spiritual knot called gandanta for the year!

Gandanta is the junction between fire and water signs which are vulnerable places in the zodiac because the signs are not sewn together here by the moon signs (nakshatras) which in all cases but three stitch together the solar signs. These three cases are between Cancer-Leo, between Scorpio-Sagittarius and between Pisces-Aries.

I was reading the other day about how the ancient Greek word for chaos means '“gaping void”, or “yawning emptiness.” Chaos can definitely be an outcome of the gaping void that is gandanta, where the lack of continuiting of the Moon signs creates an uncertainty which is extremely disconcerting. Whatever planet is transitting here, or placed in gandanta in the natal chart can carry with it an uncertainty which tends to tie us up in knots.

You will have seen what it looks like for Venus to be tied in knots beginning in July, when she moved from Cancer to Leo for the first of three such leaps, with one being in reverse! You can imagine a girl or woman (Venus) making a harrowing jump once across a great divide for some specific purpose, landing unsteadily and looking back only to realize that she has to go back and get something on the side she came from. This month Venus has been on that first side of the gap, collecting whatever was initially missed, and will now make that perilous leap again into Leo.

Venus will be in the most intense portion of gandanta from 9/29-10/2. This is not a time to be making any big decisions when it comes to love and relationship, as these decisions are likely to be based on fear and stress.

This transit in Leo will be less pressurized than the last, since the influence of Mars is not present. But Saturn and Rahu will both be influencing Venus, which can throw her back into the windstorm that those two air planets create with their combined gaze.

As a reminder: all of the indications of a planet are influenced by its transits. Venus rules women, sisters, love, relationship, pleasure, enjoyment, beauty, luxuries (esp. vehicles), attraction and art, among many other things. Venus in the body rules shukra dhatu, which is related to immunity and vitality. Venus is essentially what attracts us to life, and life to us. If Venus is having a hard time than the juiciness that makes us want to participate in life can dry up, making our routine or our romance or our work feel mechanical and unenjoyable.

Venus is on her way to recovery, but will not be her full luscious self until the very end of November, when she enters her own sign Libra. Until then, the task is to find small ways to hydrate your own experience enough to keep the machinery of your life sufficiently lubricated.
